UPDATE: The Oaks Development

The application to demolish The Oaks in Eastway was approved by Merton Council’s Planning Committee in June, despite the numerous objections from local residents.

Three Cannon Hill residents spoke admirably, voicing concerns shared by many local residents shared relating to scale, height and impact on traffic that the development will have.

Councillor Debbie Shears said “I understand local residents’ disappointment at the approval of this development.

“With the help of a resident, I have raised further concerns regarding the subterranean water course under the site.”

“I have asked about the impact of deeper foundations on its natural course and the liability to Merton Priory Homes of any damage to local properties if the water is diverted. I’m pleased to report that Merton Priory Homes has now instigated a full water survey.”
