 | Stephen Hammond Calling for Help Finding the UK’s Best Lollipop Person |
 |
Stephen Hammond, MP for Wimbledon, is calling on the children of Wimbledon to nominate their favourite lollipop person.
The winner of this year’s Kwik Fit Insurance Lollipop Person of the Year award will win the 'holiday of a lifetime', whilst the winning school will be presented with £3,000 to spend on school equipment. Furthermore, 12 regional winners will win £500 of holiday vouchers and each of the 12 schools will be awarded with £100 worth of book tokens.
Stephen Hammond said: “This is a wonderful competition. Not only does it raise awareness of important road safety issues, it recognises the hard work put in by lollipop people outside our schools.”
According to the road safety charity Brake, 4 million children in England travel to and from school by foot each day. Pedestrian injury is cited as the leading cause of accidental death of children in the UK.
