Richard Tracey

London Assembly Member for Merton and Wandsworth

Richard was elected representative for the London Boroughs of Merton and Wandsworth in 2008. 

Richard is a former MP and served as a Government Minister with responsibility for Planning and the Environment, as well as being a senior member of the Public Accounts Committee in the House of Commons.  He is a Justice of the Peace and Freeman of the City of London. 

In 2006, he became Sport England Chair for South London. Richard takes an active interest in rowing and rugby football as President of both Kingston Amateur Regatta and Kingston RFC, and is a former Current Affairs broadcaster with BBC television and radio.

 

Campaigns

In conjunction with Wimbledon's Conservatives Richard is campaigning

  • For a safer London with more police officers out patrolling our street
  • For a fairer deal for local commuters
  • For better value for money - Under Red Ken City Hall was spending too much, wasting too much and taxing too much
  • To protect and improve London's environment
  • To stop the Labour Governments planned expansion of Heathrow Airport and to reduce the nuisances associated with living so close to an airport
