About the Wimbledon Conservative Association

Richard Tracey - Conservative Candidate for the London Assembly
Richard Tracey - London Assembly Member for Merton & Wandsworth

The Wimbledon Conservative Association is a voluntary body, promoting the Conservative Party in Wimbledon. We are funded solely by membership subscriptions, donations and fund-raising events.

On the 1st of May 2008, the elections for the Mayor of London and the London Assembly took take place. Both Boris Johnson as the Conservative Mayoral Candidate and Richard Tracey, the Conservative London Assembly candidate won their respective elections (more info).

Since 1885, the Conservatives have won 30 out of the 33 elections held in the Borough. Although, it should be noted, two of the elections resulted in a coalition with the Liberals.

In May 2005, Stephen Hammond was elected as Conservative MP for Wimbledon after eight years of Labour representation. The support, organisation and fund-raising of the Conservative Association were instrumental in Stephen’s election.

For more information about the Association and what we do for Wimbledon please visit our local campaigns section and news centre, alternatively, you can call the office on 020 8944 2905 or email us if you have questions.
